“Rational synthetic design of organic ligand capped inorganic nanocrystals“
Professor Jonathan De Roo (University of Basel) is an emerging talent in the field of nanomaterials and surface chemistry. In 2016, he completed his PhD on the surface chemistry of metal oxide nanocrystals under the supervision of Professors Isabel Van Driessche, Zeger Hens, and José Martins. He then conducted postdoctoral research at Columbia University (USA), working on crystallization mechanisms and ligands, before moving to Basel, where he has been an associate professor since 2024.
He is the author of over 75 publications, many of which have appeared in high-impact journals such as Nature Materials, Angewandte Chemie, and JACS, with over 4500 citations and an h-index of 32.
