Prof. Luigi Cavallo has been a Professor of Chemistry at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Saudi Arabia, since 2011. He earned his Ph.D. in 1991 from the University of Naples under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Corradini, and further deepened his expertise in DFT by working in the laboratories of Prof. Tom Ziegler at the University of Calgary (Canada).
He is an internationally recognized expert in the development and application of computational techniques to catalysis, a field in which he has published over 550 articles and has an H-index of 90. In 2002, he was awarded the Bright Future in Chemistry Prize by Federchimica (12th edition), and in 2015, he received the Ziegler-Natta Lectureship Award from the German Chemical Society.
