‘New pyrometallurgical methods to recovery strategic metals from spent lithium-ion battery’

Prof. Elza Bontempi (University of Brescia) is a leading researcher on eco-materials obtained from waste and by-products through innovative processes. She has coordinated major national and international projects and authored more than 350 scientific papers, with over 11,000 citations, and 6 patents.
She has received numerous awards, including the 2018 ITWIIN Prize, the 2020 Energy Globe Award, the 2022 SusCritMOOC International Prize from EIT Raw Materials, the 2024 Intellectual Property Award, and the 2024 WE Award. Bontempi is also an active science communicator: she has appeared on major media outlets, spoken at TEDx and leading scientific events, and contributes to STEM outreach.
